Graham Potter will be given two more games to save his job at Chelsea
According to Evening Standard, Chelsea boss Graham Potter will be given two more games to save his job following another defeat in the league on Sunday.
The Blues slipped into a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur to push them further away from the European spots in the table. It is now just two wins from 15 league games for them.
Moreover, it was another game where Potter’s men did not score a goal. That’s seven games without a goal in 12 fixtures since the resumption of the season after the World Cup.
Looking at the next two games, Chelsea welcome Leeds United on Saturday before a crunch second leg of the last-16 tie against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
While the result against Leeds may not alter the dynamics of the table, it would be important to gain some momentum ahead of the Dortmund game.
Chelsea are chasing that tie by a goal. The only advantage is that the second leg is in Stamford Bridge. Although we lost at home to relegation-scrapping Southampton last week without scoring a goal.
After the Southampton loss, the owners were adamant about not sacking Potter and giving him a pre-season before judging the results. It seems like their patience is running out too.
For that reason, the next two games are the most important ones for the manager’s future at the club. If he beats Leeds and gets us past Dortmund, there would be something to work at going into the latter part of this season.
