Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
According to AS (h/t Football.London), Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to solve their scoring issues.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Blues have completed the signing of Atletico forward Joao Felix on loan. So, the Spanish side are now probably looking to get the Chelsea striker to fill up the vacant spot after an exit.
Aubameyang was signed by the Blues on the deadline day of the preceding summer window when Thomas Tuchel was in charge of the team. Since then, the manager has changed and the former Arsenal marksman has struggled to make a definite impact at Stamford Bridge.
In the league this season, the 33-year-old has scored one goal in nine appearances. He is averaging 0.8 shots per game, only 12.7 touches per game and a conversion rate of just 14% (Sofascore). That cannot be deemed good enough for a club as big as Chelsea.
Further evidence of how bad it has been was on display during the league game against Manchester City last Thursday. Aubameyang came on as an early sub due to an injury to Raheem Sterling. An hour later, he was hooked as he made little to no impact.
So, while Chelsea signing Felix is not filling up the number nine spot, they cannot really bank on Aubameyang to produce the goods for the remainder of this season.
So, it may not be a bad idea to offload the 33-year-old to Atletico and look to sign another striker this month. Goals are the currency of football, and Chelsea lack that in abundance this season.

Let’s hope we are working on signing a proven goal scorer in the upcoming days. If there is a space to be vacated for that, letting go of Aubameyang would do that just right.
