Chelsea have interest in signing Noni Madueke from PSV
Chelsea are looking to sign new players in the January transfer window, and it looks like the club is interested in acquiring Noni Madueke from PSV Eindhoven.
The Blues’ search for young players from other clubs has continued, with Madueke becoming the latest player from the Dutch division that Chelsea apparently want to sign.
According to The Times (Subscription Needed) (h/t Football.London), the 20-year-old winger has emerged as a potential target for the winter window.
As per Fabrizio Romao on Twitter, Chelsea are close to signing Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid on a loan move for €11m in order to beef up their attacking line after recent injuries to Christian Pulisic, Raheem Sterling, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
It seems that the signing of three young players, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, and David Datro Fofana, isn’t proving to whet Chelsea’s appetite, and there is growing interest in Madueke.
The Englishman has one goal in six appearances for PSV this season in all competitions and has previously played for Tottenham Hotspur’s youth academy before joining PSV.
The club has not benefited from a succession of acquisitions including Aubameyang from Barcelona and Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, as both have failed to capture our imaginations thus far. Madueke could be a smart addition keeping the future in mind.
But at his age, it is hard to see him becoming a regular starter for us if he joins us. It would be wiser for us to pursue a proven attacking talent who can lead our line for several years to come.

But given Madueke’s ceiling, it won’t be a shabby addition to this team. However, failure to sign him shouldn’t ring alarm bells considering that he won’t be an immediate upgrade on the options that we have.
