Graham Potter talks about the injuries to Chelsea stars Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic
Speaking in the post-match press conference as quoted by Football. London, Graham Potter has talked about the injuries suffered by Chelsea stars Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic.
The Blues took on Manchester City in the Premier League last night in what was the first of two back-to-back meetings between the two sides. Ultimately, City managed to win the game 1-0.
In many ways, Chelsea were the much better team for the entirety of the first half. They started the game with purpose, won the ball high back up the pitch and constantly presented themselves as a nuisance for City defenders.
However, Man City responded. They made sure that Chelsea would pay with Riyad Mahrez’s goal, a culmination of sustained pressure from the defending champions.
After the goal, however, the Blues got back into the game. They were yet again the much better team and it did look like they would come up with an equalizer but that was not to be.
Chelsea were extremely unfortunate last night, losing both Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic just 20 minutes into the game. Here is what Potter had to say.
“It doesn’t make it any easier. It’s too soon [to know the extent]. Raheem, it was his first action in the game, a strange one, a back heel. Christian’s, he was running at full pelt and it’s a blocked shot and contact with his knee. Fingers crossed it’s not too bad”
This comes on the back of an injury to Mason Mount which saw him miss the clash last night. Potter will be hoping that the trio can recover and be ready for the Man City clash this weekend.
This adds to the long list of injuries that Chelsea are dealing with right now. Considering the situation they find themselves in, this is the last thing that they want.
