Two of the European scouts at Chelsea have left the club
According to the Guardian, two of the European scouts at Chelsea – Sven Dworaczek and Leanardo Masieri have left the club for roles in rival clubs. Dworaczek, who was a youth scout at Liverpool between 2015 and 2021, is returning to Merseyside after a year and a half with the Blues.
Masieri has left Stamford Bridge to take up a role at the City Football Group. Defending Premier League champions Manchester City are part of this group.
The new owners at Chelsea have slowly decided to move on from the previous employers and build a new structure, including putting the emphasis on a data-led approach to transfers.
We have seen in the recent past how well the data-led approach has elevated the transfer dealings and performances on the pitch of football clubs. Liverpool and Brentford are prime examples in England.
So, it is the right plan from Todd Boehly and co. to look into that direction and streamline the recruitment strategy of the club from the use of data.
We have seen the new owners not short of financial backing for their manager in the summer window. It was unfortunate that we did not have a sporting director to complete deals for us.
We do have a technical director in the shape of Christopher Vivell now. Along with him, there have been a few appointments made to make the recruitment team strong.
With that in place, Chelsea now need to make sure the new direction taken is starting to work as soon as possible. With how the team is playing, there are major developments required to convert this squad into one that can challenge for the biggest trophies.
