Chelsea make enquiry for Celtic right-back Josip Juranovic
According to Simon Phillips (h/t Football. London), Chelsea have made an enquiry for talented Croatian right-back Josip Juranovic from Celtic.
It is no secret that the Blues are out on the hunt for a right-back. Reece James’ injury relapse has yet again shown that Chelsea cannot back on the Englishman to be their only option in that position.
A number of names have been touted as possible right-back reinforcements for Chelsea. Denzel Dumfries of Inter Milan is considered a serious option but he could prove to be expensive.
This is where Josip Juranovic comes in. The Croatian right-back has caught the eye of many people around the world with his performances for the bronze medalists at the World Cup.
Juranovic showed that he is a solid player in that right-back role. He is extremely quick and loves getting forward and also is pretty much solid defensively.
His versatility was on full show at the World Cup with the talented Celtic man playing equally well as a traditional winger as he did whilst inverting into a back three.
Graham Potter could choose to sign Juranovic and make him a key player. Reece James will undoubtedly be the first choice for Chelsea but it won’t hurt to have someone to rotate and help James.
How much Celtic will demand for the 27-year-old is a question that Chelsea need to assess. They need to find a way to convince the Scottish giants to part ways with the Croatian.

It remains to be seen how far this interest in Juranovic sustains. Only time will tell if Chelsea actually pursue a deal for the player and bring him to Stamford Bridge.
