Borussia Dortmund make one last attempt to keep hold of Chelsea target Youssoufa Moukoko
According to Sky Sports Germany (h/t Football. London), Borussia Dortmund are set to make one last attempt to keep hold of talented German striker Youssoufa Moukoko who is out of contract in the summer.
The teenage striker sensation has set the stage alight in the Bundesliga. He is scouted by a number of top clubs around the World and is considered the next big thing coming out of Dortmund.
Moukoko is on the radar of Chelsea but they are not alone in their interest. Many clubs around Europe are interested in the German teenager and Dortmund are having a tough time trying to make him agree to a new deal.
At this point, it looks like Moukoko is much closer to leaving than staying. It is understandable considering the interest he has and if he were to leave, Chelsea need to be really attentive of the situation.
Dortmund don’t seem to be giving up though and are set to launch one final attempt to try and convince their star asset to stay at the club. However, this is definitely not going to be easy by any means.
If the German club fail in their attempt to convince Moukoko, they could choose to sell him in January to avoid losing him for free come the summer. In that case, the buying club will have to pay a nominal fee.
Chelsea can afford to pay a small fee to sign the 18-year-old who can be the solution to our long-term striker issues. However, there will be other clubs in the running too who won’t make it easy for the Blues.
If Moukoko decides to run down his contract however, then the competition is only going to get more difficult for Chelsea come the summer. Many more clubs will be in the reckoning for the German.
