Chelsea preparing €100m plus bid for AC Milan winger Rafael Leao
According to Corriere dello Sport (via @Blue_Footy) [h/t Football. London], Chelsea are preparing a €100m bid for talented Portuguese superstar Rafael Leao as they look to tempt the AC Milan man to move to Stamford Bridge in January.
Chelsea’s interest in Leao has been there for quite some time now. The Blues are heavily linked with a move for the player and have been scouting him for quite some time now. However, neither party has made a move yet.
Leao has been one of the best wingers in Serie A for quite some time now. He and Theo Hernandez run riot down the left flank of AC Milan and is one of the most promising Portuguese talents coming through.
Not the typical winger that one would imagine, Leao is tall, strong and a physical presence in the forward line who uses his strength and body to get past opponents. The Portuguese forward also has a very mean finish.
Leao joined AC Milan from French outfit Lille in 2019. He has been one of the Italian giants’ best players over these past few seasons. However, his contract with the club is set to expire in 2024 (Transfermarkt) and he is yet to pen a new deal.
In 20 games for the Italian club this season across all competitions, the 23-year-old has scored seven goals and provided nine assists. He has the numbers to back up his performances on the pitch and it is no surprise that the Blues are interested.
Chelsea will know that they have to dish out a huge amount of cash if they want to sign the talented winger and appear to be willing to do just that. In fact, it is being claimed that the Blues are preparing a huge bid for January.
That said, it seems unlikely that the Italian club will be willing to part ways with their star man midseason and this interest might have to wait until January. Even though his contract does not last for long, AC Milan are in desperate need to sell him.

If the Blues indeed sign Leao, he will be unlike any other player in our squad. He is likely to cost a fortune but considering the promise he is showing, we might not go wrong with this signing after all.
