“Getting on my nerves now”- Chelsea star Kai Havertz frustrated at question about his position for Germany

Kai Havertz is a crucial player for Germany.

Chelsea forward Kai Havertz gets irritated during Germany presser about his positioning

Speaking in the press conference (h/t Mirror), Chelsea forward Kai Havertz was visibly irritated at constant questioning about his performance and positioning during the Germany press conference.

Following the opening game defeat against Japan in the World Cup, Havertz, who started as a number nine, was blasted for being lazy to get caught offside when the Germans were 1-0 up. He did not stay in line with the Japanese defence to poke the Serge Gnabry pass in when it was easy to do. Instead of going two up, they lost the game 2-1.

Aside from that chance, the former Bayer Leverkusen man was not very good in the game and was subbed off in the 79th minute for a more natural centre-forward Niclas Fullkrug.

Here’s what Havertz said when asked about his best position (h/t Mirror):

“The position issue is really getting on my nerves now. Everyone knows that I can play on the right, on the left, as a No. 9 and as a No. 10. Of course the positions are different, but I can play anything up front.

“I really like the No. 9 position, but I also know that as a striker you have to score goals. If I play there again on Sunday, I’ll give my best once more.”

That sort of performance from Havertz was not surprising to us Chelsea fans. The 23-year-old was not in great form for the Blues for the first half of the season. He scored only four goals in 20 appearances in all competitions.

For a player who is versatile in the forward line, sometimes it is difficult to find the best position for him. The managers then tend to fit him as per the requirement of the team.

Irrespective of that, it is important that Havertz finds form for the Germans soon. After the defeat to Japan, they don’t have any margin for error when they face the rampant Spain on Sunday (November 27).

More Chelsea News:

For Chelsea and manager Graham Potter, it would be nice if the 23-year-old returns to Cobham with some goals and form under his belt. The Blues need their forwards to come back to form when the club season resumes. They were anything but in the last few games before the break, with just two goals scored in the last five league games.
