Chelsea and Arsenal join the race to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho

According to 90min (h/t Football.London), Chelsea and Arsenal have joined the race to sign Manchester United winger and teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho.

The London rivals will face competition from European giants Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Paris-Saint Germain for the 18-year-old who earned his stripes at Atletico Madrid before moving to Old Trafford in October 2020.

The 18-year-old has done well whenever called upon to make an impact this season. He came on against Fulham and scored a fantastic last-minute winner to further make people take note of him.

In total, Garnacho has two goals and two assists in 292 minutes of football for the United senior team this season in all competitions. That can be averaged up to a goal contribution every 75 minutes.

It is not just that though, the Argentina U20 international has been great with his dribbling skills and directness with the ball to attack the defenders. He has great pace and good delivery of the final product in and around the opposition box.

Garnacho’s contract expires at Old Trafford in the summer of 2023 (Transfermarkt). The report does suggest that United boss Erik ten Hag wants to keep hold of the player and make him sign a new contract.

If that does not turn out to be the case, then Chelsea would be right to make a move for him. The Blues spent a good chunk of money buying young players in the summer transfer window.

If they end up signing Garnacho, he would not only improve their youth team but be a candidate to make appearances for the senior team. The teenager has all the qualities to be an elite footballer in a few years’ time.

If it becomes difficult to negotiate, the club would also be wise to not waste a lot of time on him and look at other targets. They have been linked with another teenage sensation Endrick, who is a striker by trade and could do well at Stamford Bridge.

More Chelsea News:

Manager Mikel Arteta has certainly shown with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and William Saliba that he is more than open to trusting youngsters in his team. Hopefully, that doesn’t go against us when it comes to signing either (or both) of these young attackers.
