Newcastle United among two PL clubs monitoring Chelsea forward’s situation

Chelsea considering a move to sign 20-year-old striker with 22 senior goals to his name

Everton and Newcastle United are monitoring the situation of Chelsea striker Armando Broja

According to CBS Sports (h/t Daily Express), Newcastle United and Everton are among the Premier League clubs who are monitoring the situation of Chelsea striker Armando Broja.

The Albanian international, who had a great time on loan at Southampton last season, was linked with an exit away from Stamford Bridge in the summer when West Ham United made a £30m bid for him. However, Chelsea kept hold of their academy talent and offered him a new six-year deal in September.

Recently, the 21-year-old has been linked with two European giants AC Milan and Atletico Madrid. However, Blues manager Graham Potter is not willing to let him leave regarding whether the club adds to their attacking department in January.

Broja has struggled for game time this season though, with only one league start so far and getting minutes chiefly from the bench.

Even when first-choice striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been rotated, Potter has generally stuck with Kai Havertz playing as a number nine. It kind of shows that Broja is well below the pecking order as of now.

So, if an opportunity arises, the player would not be wrong in looking to make a move away from Stamford Bridge in search of regular time. We all saw how good he can be when starting games week in and week out at Southampton.

From Chelsea’s viewpoint, it seems as if buying a new striker is in their plans in the coming transfer windows. They already have Aubameyang and Havertz donning that role. So, they could allow Broja to leave the club so that he does not spend the early parts of his career chiefly on the bench.
