Hakim Ziyech winning the race to be fit for Brentford clash but Chelsea have three senior players out injured
Chelsea have been hit with a series of injuries, but there is one silver lining in that. Hakim Ziyech may be fit for the game against Brentford this Wednesday. (h/t Express)
The Moroccan has missed the last two games due to a virus, but may now be potentially available for the Brentford clash. The 29-year-old has only featured three times in the Premier League so far for the Blues.
Even if he is fit, he is highly unlikely to be selected for the first-team given Mason Mount’s form. However, the former Ajax man does help in adding depth to the bench and his return will be a welcome one for Graham Potter.
Potter will be without several key first-choice players this Wednesday. Reece James has suffered a knee issue and is expected to be out till after the World Cup.
James’ absence is a major blow for the west London side. He has by far been their best player and there is no doubt his absence will be felt on the pitch. Either Marc Cucurella or Cesar Azpilicueta is expected to deputise for the England international’s absence.
N’Golo Kante has not featured for the club since August and recently suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury. The 31-year-old, who sees his contract expire next summer, is likely to miss the World Cup next month for France.
