Transfer News: Chelsea might move for Milan Skriniar next summer
According to FC Inter News (h/t Yorkshire Evening Post), Chelsea are “seriously reflecting” on making a move for Milan Skriniar next summer.
The Blues were linked with a move for the centre-back this summer, but nothing materialised. Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain were also said to be interested in the 27-year-old.
Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana were added as centre-backs this summer. But looks like the Blues are still interested in the Inter Milan defender.
Skriniar’s current contract will run out in 2023. If the Slovakian centre-back cannot agree to new terms with the Nerazzurri, then he will be available for free next summer.
This will boost Chelsea’s interest in signing him. With Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta in the wrong side of their 30s, the Blues could add the experienced centre-back to their backline for next season.
The Slovakian international moved to San Siro in 2017 and has since then established himself as one of the best in Italy. He has made 223 appearances for the Nerazzurri in all competitions till now and has amassed huge playing experience under his belt, both in the league and European stage.
Adding such an experienced player would only be beneficial for the west London club. A strong and dominating figure at the back, Skriniar could potentially play out his prime years at Stamford Bridge.
