Newcastle United are interested in signing Chelsea’s Tiemoue Bakayoko

According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato (h/t Football London), Newcastle United are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is currently on loan at AC Milan.

Newcastle have had an impressive transfer window with their latest acquisition of Swedish forward Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad for a club-record £40m58m.

To add to the transfer budget, they are now looking for an experienced midfielder for the team before the transfer window closes and Bakayoko is one name under consideration.

Valencia are not interested in Chelsea star Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Tiemoue Bakayoko was part of the famous 2016-17 AS Monaco side which included Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Thomas Lemar and Radamel Falcao in their ranks, who went on to win the Ligue 1 title.

The next season was followed by big money moves for many of the first-team stars, with Bakayoko also leaving Monaco to join Chelsea in 2017 for a reported £40m.

Things did not materialise for the French midfielder as he would have hoped, and soon he found himself out of contention at Stamford Bridge.

What followed were subsequent loan moves to Italian clubs Napoli and later AC Milan, where he went on a two-year loan deal.

It seems like his performances with the French side have attracted the attention of Newcastle United. They are looking to bring in an experienced midfielder before the transfer window closes on 1st September.

It is claimed that Bakayoko is not in AC Milan’s plans for the 2022/23 season and wants to cut his loan deal, which still has a year left and the player is also keen on a move elsewhere.

With Newcastle facing slight injury concerns in midfield with Bruno Guimaraes and Jonjo Shelvey, it is a deal which makes sense for the parties involved.

Newcastle United are on an upward trajectory and laying down a solid foundation for the future and Bakayokok would cherish the opportunity to be part of the project, especially considering the fact that Chelsea nor AC Milan are interested in retaining his services.
