Cesc Fabregas has reached an agreement with Ligue 1 side Monaco, according to Fabrizio Romano (h/t Calciomercato).
The report adds that Monaco beat interest from AC Milan as the Serie A side could not match the asking price from Chelsea. The Italian giants had offered an 18-month contract to Fabregas and wanted to sign him on loan with an option to buy permanently.
Monaco are offering Chelsea €10million for the 31-year-old, as per the report, and manager Thierry Henry wants to sign his former Arsenal teammate on a five-year deal.
Fabregas has just one Premier League start under his belt this season with Maurizio Sarri preferring the Spaniard in our cup games.
The 31-year-old could be a smart signing from Henry as he attempts to save Monaco from the drop. The pair played together at Arsenal, and it will be interesting to see how this pans out for Fabregas.
The report adds the deal will be announced as soon as we find a replacement for the Spanish midfielder. Chelsea have lost ground on the leaders Liverpool in recent weeks and lie 10 points behind the Reds. However, our target has to be Champions League qualification for next season.
We have a three-point gap over Arsenal, who lie fifth in the table, and with some smart signings in the winter window, we should be able to seal a return to the Champions League.

Fabregas wasn’t given enough chances by Sarri in our Premier League starting XI, and hopefully, we sign a quality player that replaces the Spaniard.
