Chelsea engaged in a transfer battle with Manchester United for Ibrahim Sangare
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are currently engaged in a battle with Manchester United for signing PSV Eindhoven star Ibrahim Sangare in the summer transfer window. He has continued to develop his quality over the past few seasons, and it seems that he is finally ready to take a bigger step in his playing career.
Sangare has already made up his mind that he will be playing in the Premier League in the upcoming campaign. He is desperate to move to England as a result despite having three years left in his current contract at PSV. The Blues would be boosted by this update, although they will need to deal with Man United, who are on the same boat.
The Ivory Coast international has a £29.9million release clause in his deal which is quite a steal for a man of his talents. It seems that he will attract quite a lot of attention this summer, having also been linked with a move to Newcastle United and Liverpool. That paves the way for an interesting couple of weeks up ahead, but whether he will move to Stamford Bridge or not remains to be seen.
Sangare to Chelsea on the cards?
While the midfield is not an immediate necessity for us, we have to plan for life up ahead which means that signing the 24-year-old ahead of our rivals is something that must be considered. After all, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante will see their current contracts expire at the end of the next season.
The Blues duo’s future is uncertain under the current circumstance giving us all the more reason to target Sangare ahead of the upcoming campaign. Furthermore, Kante has suffered from injury woes for quite some time which calls for the need to look for possible replacements if he fails to overcome those troubles.
While Conor Gallagher could be in Thomas Tuchel’s plans following an excellent campaign at Crystal Palace, the same cannot be said for Billy Gilmour, as Norwich City did not provide him with the right surroundings to develop during his loan spell. Hence, Gilmour could use some time away temporarily elsewhere beyond this summer.
Saul Niguez returned to Atletico Madrid recently after his disappointing loan tenure, while we should also look to offload Ross Barkley in the process. Mason Mount has been more or less used in the attacking department, which opens up spots for Sangare to have a role in our team.

In such a case, Sangare represents an opportunity in the making, looking at his low release clause. However, it would be wise to keep an eye out for Erik ten Hag’s side as they are going through an exodus in their midfield. That could force them to try their hardest to sign the African ace, which could be problematic for us.
Then again, since we are in the Champions League, unlike the Red Devils, perhaps we could have the edge over them in this pursuit. The same can be said for Newcastle, which leaves Jurgen Klopp’s side as our major competitor if Sangare wants to play in the prestigious competition.
