Transfer News: Chelsea ready to sell N’Golo Kante for a ‘reduced price’
According to the Athletic (Subscription Required), Chelsea could be interested in selling N’Golo Kante for a cut-price deal in order to welcome fresh new legs in their midfield.
Kante has been Chelsea’s crucial midfielder in recent seasons. The Frenchman might not be the strongest or the tallest on the pitch, but he has performed with all his heart whenever featured for the Blues. Injuries and the hectic schedule slowed down his output in the recent campaign, but he still remains one of the most important assets for Thomas Tuchel.
N’Golo Kante is set for the final 12 months of his current contract period with Chelsea. The 31-year-old hasn’t signed a contract extension yet and might not be able to do so in the foreseeable future as it is believed that Chelsea are considering a move for the Frenchman.
It is believed that Thomas Tuchel wants to ‘freshen’ up his midfield contingent and to achieve that he is eyeing getting rid of N’Golo Kante. Chelsea are expected to make him available for a lower price as his contract is closing to an end.
Would Chelsea sell Knate in the coming summer window?
Even though Kante hasn’t been his best self in the recent campaign, he has proved to be vital for Thomas Tuchel’s tactics. He forms the core of the team partnering with Jorginho and Mateo Kovačić and their absence has hurt Blues a lot in the 2021/22 Premier League season.
Several crucial players from the Chelsea squad including Antonio Rüdiger, Andreas Christensen, César Azpilicueta, and Marcos Alonso are close to leaving the club in the summer with certain players like Jorginho’s future still up in the air.
Amid such a situation Chelsea might not be able to manage the loss of Kante so soon. The Blues would be wise to keep him on board for at least one season until they can complete the process of some of our crucial outgoing players.
Replacing too many first-team players in the same summer may not have the best effect on chemistry and cohesion. Moreover, he has been a tireless performer for us ever since his move from Leicester City. If he wants to stay at the Bridge, then the Blues would be wise to keep him on board.
