Transfer News: Charly Musonda Jr. announces Chelsea exit after ten years at the club
Taking to Instagram (h/t Football.London), Chelsea outcast Charly Musonda Jr. has announced his exit from the club after ten unsuccessful years at Stamford Bridge.
The highly-rated Belgian midfielder joined the club to much hype from Anderlecht in 2012 but it is safe to say that his career has not panned out as hoped for. Three loan spells later, the 25-year-old’s career is stalling and he finds himself without a contract now.
Having made just seven appearances for the club in 10 years, Musonda has not been given an opportunity to prove himself at West London. His loan spells haven’t panned out successfully either and a new start and a fresh beginning might just be what the Belgian needs to resurrect his career.
Now a free agent, Musonda is free to choose what he wants to do and he will be hoping to move to a club where he would be promised regular game time to resurrect his career.
What could have been?
Once given a ’20 %’ chance of playing football again after he tore his posterior cruciate ligament, the fact that Musonda is back training and on the pitch playing football again is evidence of how much determination the 25-year-old possesses.
Labelled the next ‘Eden Hazard’ when he joined the club and regarded as one of the biggest prospects at Cobham, the Belgian footballer can still be of great use to many clubs in the world playing on either wing or even as an attacking midfielder.
The fact that he offered to play for free to Chelsea to prove his abilities is a clear sign that Musonda wants to play on and prove his footballing abilities to the world. Whilst it is still not evident as to where he could go, any club that decides to back him and give him his chance will be a good choice.

A second chance awaits Musonda. Whether he takes it is something that we will have to see but let’s hope he makes the right decision for himself and his career. Musonda and Chelsea is a marriage that just did not work. Let’s hope his next one works well for him though.
