Chelsea star Christian Pulisic told to make West Ham United transfer amid game time struggles
Chelsea star Christian Pulisic has been advised to accept a transfer to a club like West Ham United amidst a lack of game time. Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley and ex-Hammers goalkeeper Shaka Hislop have shared their opinion regarding the winger’s future prospects.
Pulisic’s father, Mark, had recently expressed in a now-deleted tweet about his son’s frustrations over the lack of consistent minutes. That has been the case, especially following the recent international break adding to the woes the forward has suffered this season.
Speaking in a discussion on ESPN FC (h/t The Express), Burley has conveyed that it would be best for the US international to take a step down to a club like West Ham. He added that while it would be a downward move for Pulisic, it would ensure that the attacker can at least garner consistent game time.
“I believe a club like for example a West Ham, a team just sitting around [the European places]. It is a step-down but it’s a step down to I think getting regular game time, whether that’s in England or Spain or Germany or wherever.”
Chelsea exit on the cards for Pulisic?
Hislop has agreed with Burley by sharing a similar opinion regarding Pulisic’s future. The former even goes on to mention that David Moyes’ side would be a “great fit” for the 23-year-old at this point in his playing career. Whether the winger would pay heed to these suggestions or not remains to be seen.
“That step down to another club, a smaller club, Craig mentions my former club West Ham, which I think would be a great fit for him, might be exactly what he needs if is to be playing if he wants to start and start regularly.”
Pulisic has failed to start a match under Thomas Tuchel for quite a while, which makes it understandable why the former is frustrated about his current situation. The winger has seven goals and four assists to his name this term from 34 appearances across all competitions.
While that is a solid return, it is still a far cry from what has been expected from the former Borussia Dortmund man. Then again, it is not entirely his fault as his campaign has been ravaged by injuries, Covid-19, lack of consistent minutes, and solidity in the positions he has been used by Tuchel.
We do hope that the current situation will not lead to unrest as Pulisic is one of the very few natural wingers in our squad. Losing him could be detrimental to our squad composition, so the West London side would be wise to solve this situation at the earliest.
We are yet to fully benefit from the £57million we paid for the Premier League ace. However, we must also provide him with the ideal surroundings to make a case for himself. That has not happened this time around but fans would hope that will not be the case in the future for the benefit of all the parties.

Pulisic is young, has the talent to make it to the very top, and is an icon already in the United States of America. He is a star that has perhaps not been used to his best capabilities and Tuchel has a sleeping giant in the USMNT star. It just depends on how much trust the manager shows in him and how eager Pulisic is to unravel his potential.
