PSG could make a bid for Chelsea target Erling Haaland should Kylian Mbappe leave in the coming summer
According to L’Equipe (h/t Football.London), Chelsea could be handed a potential setback in their attempt to secure Erling Haaland. It is believed that PSG would be tempted to make a bid for the Norwegian striker should Kylian Mbappe leave the club in the summer.
The 21-year-old has established himself as one of the best young strikers in the world and has many admirers across Europe. The Norwegian generated much interest ever since his RB Salzburg days and has only grown in stature after joining Borussia Dortmund. Haaland has scored 23 goals and provided six assists in 20 matches across all competitions for the German club this campaign and continues to be their standout player.
The Parisiens have their own star in Mbappe but could be tempted to make a move for Haaland should the 23-year-old French international depart in the coming summer window amidst growing interest from Real Madrid. The Norwegian international is one of the hottest properties in Europe at the moment and has also been linked to the Stamford Bridge outfit in the past.
Could Erling Haaland help revitalise the Chelsea attack?
The Blues have struggled in the attacking half of the pitch recently and have found goals hard to come by. The London based club have spent enormous amounts of money on securing top talents like Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Romelu Lukaku in the last few windows but the trio has failed to live up to their tag prices and replicate the kind of clinical form that they showed with their previous teams.
Tuchel has enjoyed success at Chelsea so far and even lead them to the UEFA Champions League as well as the UEFA Super Cup during his time in charge. His success has been built on the foundation of some great defensive displays and solidity, but the attacking half continues to be a point of concern for a side with big aspirations.
The London-based club could therefore be tempted to add a lethal striker like Erling Haaland to their ranks to help provide a reliable attacking threat for the future. At 21, the youngster could be a great long-term asset for the club having already gained a lot of experience in top European competitions.
