Blues odds on to beat R’s

Chelsea are really beginning to hit top gear and another win looks on the cards when they travel to Loftus Road on Sunday to take on near neighbours QPR.

The Blues are not surprisingly long odds-on for victory at a top priced 1.4 with Betfred, Boylesports and Stan James and everything points to a comfortable win if the form book is anything to go by.

QPR are still awaiting their first home win in the Premier League this season and have won just one of the last 14 matches in all competitions against Chelsea.

Neil Warnock’s side are something of an enigma. The have put in some good performances in beating Everton and Wolves away, but were woeful when tonked 4-0 by Bolton and 6-0 by Fulham.

They could only manage a 1-1 draw with Blackburn last week, and face a Chelsea side who are are in terrific form and banging goals in for fun.

Andre Villas-Boas has introduced fresh blood into the squad and it’s really beginning to pay dividends.

A 3-1 win over Everton was followed by a 5-0 romp against Genk in the Champions League and it’s impossible to see the Hoops being able to halt their winning run.

Chelsea have so far won all their five matches against teams in the bottom half of the league, and have strikers in the shape of Drogba and Sturridge who are capable of wreaking havoc against QPR’s frail back-line.

Sturridge is now starting to realise his full potential and his tally of four goals in the PL means that he is currently joint top scorer this season with Frank Lampard.

Both those players appeal as likely types to grab the opener in this encounter, and look decent value in the first goal scorer markets.

Sturridge can be backed at 5.5 with bet365 while Lampard is a standout 7 with Betfred. Split stakes should hopefully produce some profit.

Chelsea have now gone seven Premier League games without keeping a clean sheet for the first time since 2003, but this surely represents a chance to put things right.

They are 1.91 with bet365 not to concede, and that looks a fair bet.

So given that they are hopefully going to without conceding, we just need to decide on what the winning margin will be.

The 9.5 with Stan James for a 3-0 win looks fair value, but in the hope that the goal glut continues 4-0 also looks worth a punt at the 19 on offer with Betfred and Boylesports.
