Transfer News: Chelsea have entered the race to sign Brazilian wonder-kid Endrick

According to Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol on The Transfer Show (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are set to battle with a handful of European heavyweights for the signature of Endrick.

Brazilian youngster Endrick has been wreaking havoc with some awe-inspiring performances at the youth level. He is a genuine ‘samba’ talent and is proving to be a top-notch performer, with his recent acrobatic overhead kick goal confirming his spectacular abilities.

At the age of only 15, the striker has obliged some of the top European clubs to consider a serious move for him. After all, Brazil has provided some of the most exciting talents in recent years, with Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr, and Neymar Jr being some of the most popular examples.

Endrick is on the transfer radar of Chelsea.

Kaveh Solhekol revealed that Barcelona sent scouts to watch Endrick play. However, the Catalan giants aren’t the only ones tracking the growth of the Brazilian kid, as Manchester United, Real Madrid and Liverpool have all kept tabs on the situation. And now, Chelsea have become the newest member to join the transfer race.

What should Chelsea do?

Endrick would be 16 in July when European clubs would be eligible to offer him a professional contract. It seems there would be a massive transfer battle in the coming summer window for possession of the young forward, given the amount of truly top-level teams that are interested in signing him.

Chelsea did exceptional work to get the best out of homegrown young players and productively utilized the academy structure during the transfer ban under Frank Lampard. It showed the strength of the top-notch coaches in charge at Cobham. Any foreign youngster would similarly get high-quality guidance in West London if he was to sign for us.

It could become a lucrative sporting project for Endrick, who has been performing against players a lot older than him. And it is always wise to plan ahead. Romelu Lukaku cannot keep playing forever and the Blues may well need to sort out another number 9 once the Belgian’s time at Stamford Bridge is over- whenever that happens to be.

Signing Endrick in advance would certainly offer us an option in that department for the long run. He can start with the youth teams and then make his way into the first-team set-up gradually. If he turns out to be a top-level player, any team that signs him would then see their investment pay dividends.

But looking at the competition involved, his price could skyrocket in the summer window given by the basic principle of supply and demand. Our board must be cautious about that and should start laying the groundwork soon.
