Alisson could be heading to the Premier League and not to La Liga according to a report from Don Balon (h/t The Express).
The Spanish outlet claims that Real Madrid have seen a bid get rejected by AS Roma for their goalkeeper as the Serie A club believe they can get a lot more for the 25-year-old.
The Champions League winners have reportedly bid £43million for the Brazilian star, however, Roma are looking for a better deal and the fear for the La Liga side is that Liverpool and Chelsea could swoop in and sign the keeper.
While Liverpool look to get an upgrade on Loris Karius, we are looking at a replacement for Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian could leave Stamford Bridge as his contract negotiations have not gone our way and that could pave the door for Alisson to come in.
Alisson has become one of the best keepers in the Serie A as he helped his side to the last four of the Champions League and also helped them finish 3rd in the league.
A big money move on the cards for Alisson
Alisson certainly could be an upgrade on Courtois given that the Belgian did not have the best of seasons for us. However, the major concern would be the price tag that Roma are looking at for the Brazilian.
Spending more than the £43million that Real had bid for the goalkeeper might be a little too much given our situation. We are still unsure about the future of our manager and it would make more sense to fix that issue first before thinking about bringing players in.
Additionally, the Brazilian’s price might increase a lot more if the national side does well in the World Cup and that might even knock us out of the race to sign up Alisson.
