Chelsea will be without the services of Trevoh Chalobah for ‘two or three weeks’
According to injury expert Ben Dinnery (h/t Football.London), after suffering a recurring hamstring injury, Chelsea star Trevoh Chalobah will require 2-3 weeks more to recovery completely.
In early December, Trevoh Chalobah suffered a hamstring issue in Chelsea’s victory against Watford. The youngster made his return two weeks later. However, the 22-year-old experienced pain in the same area and had to be substituted.
Now he looks set for yet another spell on the sidelines. It is bad news for Thomas Tuchel who continues to struggle with injuries to key members of his defence.
Tuchel was short of defenders amid the injury to Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen earlier this month. Despite knowing the risk involved, Chalobah agreed to feature against Liverpool. The 22-year-old was experiencing pain before being substituted in the 70th minute.
The Chelsea boss did not provide any information after the clash. However, it was believed that the youngster would be taken to undergo further medical assessments to get a better idea.
Now, injury expert Ben Dinnery claims that the recurring injury in the same area has created further issues and a return before the winter break seems improbable.
“It’s two or three weeks, easily. It was early December when he had that initial setback, and it’s happened again. We know all about the increased risk of re-injury during that 28-day period and that he has fallen within that. if we’re looking at the same hamstring issue, it will certainly put him out until after the winter break.“
Even though the Blues poses a solid depth in the centre back position, Tuchel faced problems putting up a solid squad due to fitness concerns. Silva and Christensen missed a couple of matches in the last two weeks. The Danish star has made a comeback, but the Brazilian remains sidelined.
As Chalobah would require to spend some time on the sidelines, the Blues manager will only have two recognized centre backs available. In the last few games, the German manager started Malang Sarr, but the Senegalese star is yet to find form.

Even though there is a long term requirement of a centre back, Chelsea will do well to complete their due diligence before zeroing in on their man. Whether Chalobah’s situation will now force Marina Granovskaia’s hand in the January transfer window remains to be seen.
