Chelsea have blocked Borussia Dortmund’s attempts to sign Michy Batshuayi on a permanent basis, according to the Mirror.
The Belgian striker was on loan with the Bundesliga giants this season and scored 7 goals in just 10 games for the side after struggling to get regular playing time with the Blues.
The report further claims that the Belgian striker is a part of the plans for next season at the club, despite Antonio Conte not seemingly giving the striker his chances at Stamford Bridge.
It is being reported that the Italian manager will leave at the end of the season irrespective of the FA Cup final against Manchester United.
Batshuayi was an instant hit at Dortmund and even scored a couple of goals in the Europa League. The youngster did seem to enjoy his football there and really did well as he was allowed to start a number of games.
That was not the situation with the Blues under Conte and the time away from the club did do wonders for the 24-year-old.
While Chelsea have blocked all moves for the Belgian, it is important to see how he does at the club next season. Batshuayi, as stated, hasn’t always been on fire at the Bridge and if he is to stake a claim as the number one striker at the club, he will have to perform really well in the off-season.
The Belgian would also be hopeful of making it to the World Cup as the squad is to be announced soon and if he can put in some great performances for the national side, that might make up the management’s mind at Stamford Bridge.
Batshuayi is still one of the most talented strikers in the world and at only 24, he has a lot of time on his hands to get better too. We have to be a little careful and nurture the player as he seems to give it his all whenever he puts on the jersey.
Hopefully, we will see a lot more of him next season as we try to recover from a poor campaign this time around.
