Chelsea scout Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni ahead of summer transfer window
According to Goal (h/t Football.London), Chelsea have seen their interest in Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni rise after scouting him for a potential transfer deal next summer. He has enjoyed a rapid rise to the top at such an early age and has become a regular for both club and country.
The Blues are currently scouting Tchouameni as they are preparing to make an official bid at the end of this campaign. They have become “increasingly interested” in getting his services following his excellent performances in the middle of the pitch.
The English club is making a detailed study about the attitude and personal life of the Frenchman before jumping the gun on him next summer. They had already contacted his representatives ahead of this term when the Ligue 1 club had valued him at £35million. Declan Rice is also a transfer target for Thomas Tuchel’s side, and it looks likely that only one of them could be brought to Stamford Bridge.
Tchouameni to join Chelsea?
Looking at how the 21-year-old has fared so far this season, he could become a valuable prospect for us should we end up signing him. Chelsea are stacked in midfield with the number of players available, but injuries this season have shown how we can never have enough strength in depth.
Saul Niguez could be returned to Atletico Madrid when his loan spell ends at Stamford Bridge. He has had a mixed time so far, and we have not seen any reason to keep him beyond that period. Ross Barkley is another option who could be used to pave the way for the French youngster.
We would have it difficult as we have to convince the Ligue 1 star that he can earn consistent minutes for his progress as a player. There is strong competition in our midfield with players like Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic performing to their absolute best currently.
As such, Marina Granovskaia would have to find a way to get him to join us in an environment where he is not guaranteed consistent game time. Kante and Jorginho are going to enter the twilight of their playing careers, and we would need someone to take the mantle in the future.

The Monaco star could be just the man for us, meaning we have to create a situation where he could grow us an understudy to take over the position in the future. He would most likely become more expensive at the end of the season since he has taken his displays to another level in this campaign.
