As per a report from , Manchester United are closing in on a sensational summer swoop to sign Chelsea attacker Willian. After raiding the Blues last summer to sign Nemanja Matic, it seems like Jose Mourinho wants to go back to his former club and acquire Willian’s services. The has also stated that Chelsea might be willing to let him leave for a sum of £30 million, even though the player has about two years left on his current contract.

Willian is undoubtedly Chelsea’s most potent attackers and he has played a pivotal role for the club this season, chipping in with a colossal 13 goals and 11 assists. Willian is also likely to play a huge role for Brazil this summer as far as go, he is Tite’s main man along side Neymar and Firmino. In Such a situation, it is baffling to see Antonio Conte not start him regularly and it makes sense for the player as well as the club to allow him to join a new place. And with United harbouring an interest, Willian might be the second Chelsea player to move to Old Trafford in the gap of a year.

Juan Mata

Now, have also claimed that Juan Mata could exit United this summer. The club had triggered a one-year extension on his contract but the report has claimed that the Spaniard could be on the lookout for a move. In that case, it would be ideal for United to sign Willian. Mata has played as an attacking midfielder for a good majority of the season so far but he has failed to provide a creative edge on a consistent basis.

Given Willian’s lethal attacking instincts, he could work wonders in that role for the Red Devils. Furthermore, if Mata were to leave and Mourinho manages to sign Willian, that could free up space for Jesse Lingard to appear on the right-wing more often. Willian is also very versatile and he could be deployed on either wing as well if required. Thus, signing him would add a whole new dimension to the United attack which has looked lacklustre on certain occasions this season.

The price also seems fair enough and there seems to be no reason as to why United should not pursue a deal for him this summer. Hence, Willian’s transfer could remarkably improve things for the club and they must do everything they can to bring him to Old Trafford at the end of the season.
