Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek opens up on his situation at Stamford Bridge
Speaking to the Chelsea official website, Ruben Loftus-Cheek has revealed his feelings surrounding the current situation at Stamford Bridge. He has started to claw his way to the first team after he had to deal with several challenges that blocked his development.
The 25-year-old has made ten appearances under Thomas Tuchel this season and has also provided two assists. Having made his debut in 2014, he was plagued by injuries that derailed his chances to establish himself in the senior squad.
The Englishman had to leave on several loan spells to find his feet which reduced his exposure at the parent club. However, he has left all those lows in his career behind and looks like a player reborn this term.
He said that he understood his current situation and accepted that it is a part of life.
“It doesn’t surprise me to be honest. I’ve obviously been here a long time but I’ve had a lot of injuries along the way and I’ve been out on loan twice now so that’s just the way my career has gone.”
The Blues ace wants to be a success at the English club and said that the obstacles would not stop him from reaching his goal. He also said that he always had a belief that he would eventually be a regular for the Champions League winners.
“I’ve always believed that I could make it but there have just been a lot of setbacks along the way. Despite that, I’ve always believed that I could play for Chelsea regularly.”
