Chelsea has been given a huge boost in the pursuit of Lorenzo Insigne
According to the Italian outlet Il Roma (h/t Football.london), Vincenzo Pisacane, the agent of Lorenzo Insigne, gave a massive boost to Chelsea by making details of the renewal deal public.
Lorenzo Insigne is currently serving the final year of his contract term with Napoli. He has been one of the essential players of the Italian unit, and has had a profound relationship with the club for many seasons. But now, it seems there have been some cracks in the current talks between the club representatives and Insigne’s agent.
Vincenzo Pisacane recently made public the details regarding the ‘surprising’ proposed deal from the I Partenopei. He stated that the club president Aurelio De Laurentiis had offered a renewal deal with a 50% pay cut.
“I must clarify that the contract offer comes with a 50% pay cut. I am an agent, and I must defend the captain at any time.”
The Italian agent also added that it’s very different from usual renewal deals in a way that most teams would offer a lucrative contract to keep hold of their star players, but Napoli surprised his 30-year-old client.
“Usually, you offer more money when you want to extend a contract. Lorenzo was surprised. There is mutual respect with Aurelio, but he knows that the proposal must be increased and not cut.”
The 30-years-old player has attracted Marina Granovskaia’s attention on a few occasions.
Chelsea first targetted the Italian player in 2018 after Maurizio Sarri took charge of the West London team. The deal had competition from Liverpool and didn’t see the light of the day.
A few months later, the interest was again evident due to Eden Hazard’s exit situation. But that also didn’t work out. After his heroics for the Italian team in the Euro 2020, the Blues tried to lure the player with another failure.

But this time, Thomas Tuchel’s team could be handed an enormous boost due to the contract situation with the current team. It is believed that it could also be a ‘tactful ploy’ from the agent to get the attention of the big European teams to boost his client’s value in the market.
In any case, if the Blues rejuvenate their interest in the forward, they could get a huge advantage in the race. He could become a prime attacker and creative playmaker under Thomas Tuchel.
