Atletico Madrid are eyeing Andreas Christensen as contract situation at Chelsea still not resolved
According to Sport Witness via Fichajes (h/t Football.London), Atletico Madrid have identified Andreas Christensen as a potential transfer target in the summer should the contract talks with Chelsea remain unsuccessful.
The 25-year-old has been a mainstay for the Blues in the defence and has played a vital role for the side. This has led to the English club being at the top of the Premier League table with the best defence.
However, the defender’s contract is set to expire next summer and could potentially walk out on a free. He is also able to reach a pre-contract agreement with other clubs in the January transfer window.
The centre-back would be an interesting option for Atleti should he be available on a free transfer. The Spanish club, if serious in their interest, would be delighted to know that negotiations have not progressed for around two months.
Christensen is claimed to want to stay at Stamford Bridge but would also like to be valued at the club. While the new contract offers a raise, he would still be one of the lowest earners within the team.
The La Liga champions would be hoping that the circumstances stay the same as it could benefit them in the future. Thomas Tuchel’s side needs to be wise in this regard to not lose an important asset.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have to thank the central defenders for the stability at the back. If they are to lose the base for the success so far, then the progress made would be in vain. Marina Granovskaia needs to be wise in this situation and give Christensen a contract that he deserves for his contribution.
