Federico Pastorello reveals Romelu Lukaku had Chelsea in mind while he was at Manchester United
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Metro), Federico Pastorello, the agent of Romelu Lukaku, has admitted that his client had Chelsea on his mind while he was playing for Manchester United. The striker did well but is considered to have an underwhelming stint at Manchester.
Lukaku joined the Blues after they paid a club-record fee of £97million to Inter Milan for his services. The English club had previously tried for the 28-year-old under the reign of Antonio Conte but was unsuccessful.
The Belgian was not able to reach the heights that were expected of him at Old Trafford. He scored 42 goals and provided 13 assists for United in 96 games during his time at the club, not a bad return by any means
“During his last season at Man United he always had Chelsea in his head. Real Madrid as well I have to admit. That is another dream of his in terms of imagining his career, but Chelsea was always 100 per cent his target.”
The Belgian striker left Man Utd after just two seasons and joined Inter for a fee of £74m. His success in Italy prompted Chelsea to bring him back to Stamford Bridge.
Lukaku’s agent has confirmed that the player had an affinity for the Blues since his childhood and always had the desire to return to Stamford Bridge. He has since not only broken his duck for the club but also emerged as the first-choice striker for Thomas Tuchel.
“They were the love of his childhood so there was always this desire to come back. It was a question of pride. He had that in his head and his heart.”

Fans of the Manchester club would not like this admission from the agent whereas fans of Thomas Tuchel’s side would be delighted to hear this. It is a perfect opportunity to throw some banter at the Man United especially considering the situation at Theatre of Dreams.
But then given how they treated the big Belgian, they should not expect any sympathy fro0m either the Bleus fanbase or the player himself.
