Transfer News: Chelsea linked with a move for Eden Hazard amidst interest from other Premier League clubs
According to ESPN, Chelsea and several Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on Eden Hazard in an attempt to sign him in the January transfer window. Real Madrid have been previously suggested to be open to selling the forward to recoup some money.
The 30-year-old was sold to Real in 2019 for a fee of €100million excluding add-ons. However, he has not fared well at Santiago Bernabeu as he suffered from fitness and injury woes.
Hazard has scored just five goals and provided nine assists in 53 appearances for the Madrid club. It has been largely disappointing and he has not justified the transfer fee that was paid for him.
Newcastle United have been named as one of the clubs interested in the Belgian international. They have been linked to several high profile names following the takeover by Saudi backed Public Investment Fund.
However, the winger had expressed his desire to stay in Spain back in June in an interview. He wanted to turn around his time at Madrid and has said that he wants to stay at the club.
“I still have three years of contract at Real Madrid. I like the club. I like the players. I will give everything next season for this club. I don’t see myself leaving Real Madrid now.”

The Blues have not formalised their interest at the moment but it could change in the future. The forward could be swayed if his current situation continues as he was left on the bench in the Spanish club’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona at Camp Nou.
