Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel provides honest verdict on the need for reinforcements.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel broke another record in his side’s win over Brentford

According to The Daily Star, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel made history in the club’s 1-0 win over Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday night.

The Blues were far from their best and were the second-best side for the majority of the night. However, an inspired performance by Edouard Mendy in goal saw them get over the line. Ben Chilwell’s strike in the 45th minute proved to be the difference at the other end.

The win also takes Chelsea’s win streak in London derbies to seven- a new English football record. Not a bad record for Tuchel who is yet to finish a year on the job.

Thomas Tuchel us yet to drop a point for Chelsea in the London derbies.

It must, however, be remembered that Chelsea’s record stretches all the way to Frank Lampard’s penultimate game as manager. The Blues overcame Fulham that night.

They have since gone on to get the better of Tottenham Hotspur twice, Crystal Palace, West ham United, Arsenal and now Brentford. Chelsea will next play in a London derby on 4 December against West Ham United.

The Chelsea defence has played a big part in their success.

According to the report, no other London side in the top four tiers of English football has enjoyed such a successful run in their city. A major reason for the good run has been the solidity shown at the back.

In fact, Chelsea have only conceded once in the seven games. Palace striker Christian Benteke was the lone man to breach Tuchel’s backline. Little appears to have changed since then.
