Thomas Tuchel has given his verdict on Chelsea transfer window.

Thomas Tuchel gives honest verdict of Ballon d’Or with five Chelsea players nominated

Speaking in a press conference (h/t The Mirror), Thomas Tuchel has revealed that he does not care about or hold much value for the Ballon d’Or. The German boss is happy about the nomination of his players but does not care about who wins the award.

Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Romelu Lukaku form the list of Chelsea players who got nominated for the trophy. The Blues winning the Champions League affected the nomination of most of these players.

Tuchel painted his opinion on the award when he said that he does not know about the list of nominees. He then goes on to say that he values team principles over the individual principles that the award represents.

“Do you believe me if I tell you that I don’t even know who it is on the list? I’m not into these single, individual awards. I believe this is a team effort. I believe what we did last season, for these players on the list, was a team effort.”

But the 48-year-old manager did say that he would be happy if one of his players should win the award. With Jorginho being a prime candidate following his CL and Euro 2020 glory, he could see that happen soon.

“I hope one of our players gets it, it will increase the confidence and everything you need to become a good player.”

Chelsea’s triumph as European Champions was a result of the togetherness and teamwork as mentioned by their coach. While the award doesn’t represent that value, should one of the players win it, it would be welcomed by the whole squad.
