Fabrizio Romano reveals Manchester United interest in AS Monaco ace Aurelien Tchouameni amidst Chelsea links
Speaking on his ‘Here We Go’ podcast (h/t The Express), Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United are interested in AS Monaco ace Aurelien Tchouameni amidst Chelsea links.
The 21-year-old has come into the limelight ever since he broke into the Bordeaux first team back in 2018. A move to Monaco last summer proved vital as he honed his talent better and developed well under former Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac.
The youngster is a France international as well now and proved his mettle in the UEFA Nations League final against Spain. Bossing the midfield alongside Paul Pogba in a double pivot, Tchouameni certainly caught a lot of eyes with his performance.
Chelsea and Juventus have been linked with the midfielder but journalist Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that United are also set to rekindle their interest in the player after scouting him this summer. Romano explained on his ‘Here We Go’ podcast (h/t The Express):
“Manchester United were not trying to sign Tchouameni last summer. So they were not negotiating with Monaco for Tchouameni. There were many rumours but he was on the list of Man United, he’s a player they are scouting with many, many players, but they were not negotiating for him.
Chelsea and Juventus have this player on their list. Chelsea have this player in their list, so keep an eye on Chelsea and Juventus, and we’ll see what Real Madrid will do in this position.”

The Blues currently possess the likes of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Saul Niguez, Ruben Loftus Cheek, and Mateo Kovacic in the midfield but could spring for another midfielder soon, especially since Saul’s move was a loan deal and there is no certainty over his future.
With Kante and Jorginho turning 30 this year or in the next one, Tchouameni’s signing can certainly be a clever one, but they will have to fend off English rivals United and Serie A heavyweights Juventus if they hope to add the French international to their ranks.
