Chelsea fans react as Billy Gilmour stars for Scotland in late win over Israel
Chelsea starlet Billy Gilmour stepped up big time when Scotland needed him at Hampden Park against Israel on Saturday night.
While it was Scott McTominay who scored the injury-time winner to send the stadium wild, it was Gilmour who made the difference on the field.
Israel did well to match the Scots and even took the lead twice. However, Gilmour had different ideas and stepped up his game after the break. This helped the home side gain control of the midfield and launch waves upon waves of attacks.
Just 20, Gilmour is steadily establishing himself as an undroppable player for the Scots. The energy, composure and intent that he brings to the midfield is unparalleled and will only get better with time.
Chelsea have a real player on their hands and he might very well turn out to be something special. Currently, on loan at Norwich City, it is clear to see why Gilmour is so highly thought of in football circles.
We now take a look at how some fans reacted to his performance on the night for Scotland.

Fantastic performance Billy. If Iniesta done what you did to tonight they’d be talking about it until the new year. @NorwichCityFC and @ChelseaFC don’t know how good they’ve got it 💙 🤍

I watched the Scotland match and I admit I’m biased but Billy Gilmour clearly deserved the MOTM award. Class again

When Scotland needed it most Billy Gilmour stepped up in that second half and said, ‘I’m having this.’

Has Billy Gilmour been MOTM in every game he’s played for Scotland?

If we qualify for the World Cup then that second half performance from Billy Gilmour will go down in folklore, I didn’t think he was at his best in the first but as soon as the second kicked off he took the game by the scruff and was instrumental in turning the tide in that game.
