Chelsea summer signing Saul Niguez ready to fight for his position

According to a conversation with internet celebrity Ibai Llanos on Twitch (h/t Daily Mail), Chelsea summer signing Saul Niguez is hoping to show the Blues fans ‘a new Saul’.

The 26-year-old, who has been in the Spanish capital for more than half a decade, experienced a lot of success at the club. The Spaniard was a pivotal part of the Atletico Madrid team that reached the UEFA Champions League final in 2016 while also winning the La Liga twice, as they enjoyed their latest triumph last season.

However, the midfielder has now made the move to Stamford Bridge on a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of this season. Saul has also made it clear that he is ready to fight for his position in the team and acknowledge the level the likes of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante Kovacic are currently functioning at.

He told Ibai Llanos on Twitch (h/t Daily Mail):

“The three midfielders who are playing are at a high level. It will not be easy to play, but if I put my mind to it and fight it, I can get it.”

“Chelsea has promised me to train in my position [midfield], but to play we will see…This transfer is a step out of my comfort zone for me. I believe that you will see a new Saul in a new [better] place.”

Thus, this would be good news for Thomas Tuchel as it would provide the club with a lot more depth in the central midfield area. Additionally, given the 26-year-old’s Champions League and title wining experience, Saul has been a really smart signing by Marina Granovskaia and Chelsea.

Thus, the midfielder will now have to perform and prove his worth to his German boss if he wants to start week in and week out for the west London club.
