Transfer News: Chelsea target Jules Kounde getting worried over switch from Sevilla
According to news from Spanish outlet Diario de Sevilla (h/t Express), Chelsea transfer target Jules Kounde is getting worried whether his move from Sevilla might fall apart.
Kounde’s two-year stint with Sevilla could be drawing to a close amid serious interest from Chelsea. The Blues are intent on bolstering their defensive options this summer with Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta not getting any younger while Antonio Rudiger is yet to pen fresh terms.
To that end, Kounde has been identified as the top target by the west London giants, and talks over a transfer have been underway for a while now. Indeed, it has been also claimed that Chelsea have already managed to reach an agreement with Kounde over a four-year contract.
The bone of contention, however, is the transfer fee. Kounde has a release clause worth £68m which Chelsea are reluctant to meet. Instead, the Blues had put forth an offer of £30m plus French centre-back Kurt Zouma to close the deal. Sevilla, however, at least want £40m, in addition to Zouma, to sanction the sale.
What complicates matters even more is that Zouma is said to be intent on staying put in the Premier League. All the snags are now making Kounde ‘feel uneasy’ over the chances of the deal going through. The 22-year-old is said to be concerned that the transfer might fall through after he has already agreed terms on a four-year deal. (h/t Express)

With Zouma insistent on not leaving the Premier League, things are indeed getting tricky for Chelsea. In case the Frenchman does not change his stance, the Blues may have to stump up the entire release clause amount for Kounde.
