Friday was busy with news about Deadline Day Deals, especially the ones that didn’t get done. The weekend saw the additional fallout from a busy end to the window, giving, even more, insight into the latest Premier League Lines.
+Getting Antoine Griezmann
Weekend reports were rife with reports of French Superstar Antoine Griezmann’s possible move to Manchester United. Griezmann wasn’t completely forthcoming about the rumors, instead suggesting that he would only leave the Vicente Calderon (before the expiration of his contract in 2021) if Simeone left for PSG.
However, according to Griezman, Simeone has no intention of leaving anytime soon.
+Yaya vs. Pep Guardiola
Yaya Toure’s omission from Manchester City’s UEFA Champions League squad on the weekend didn’t go down well with Dimitri Seluk, his agent. With a year left on his deal, Toure remained at City, surviving a scourge that saw the elimination of a number of first team stars that didn’t fit Pep’s plans.
Seluk chastised Pep’s decision on Toure. He added that if Pep didn’t win the Champions League despite his many controversial decision, Seluk expected him to come out and admit that he might have been wrong to humiliate Yaya.
Of course, in the event that Pep did win the Champions League, Seluk said he was prepared to come to England and admit, on live television, that Pep is the world’s greatest manager.
+PSG VS Blaise Matuidi
It is no secret that Blaise Matuidi wanted to leave Paris Saint-Germain before PSG blocked his efforts. Initially tipped as Paul Pogba’s replacement at Manchester United (if Pogba didn’t move), Blaise’s determination to seek a new challenge away from a club he joined in 2011 was met with some unexpected complications.
However, Blaise denied claims that he was unhappy at PSG, adding that he would do his best with the situation at hand.
+Olivier Giroud, Wenger’s Negotiator
Giroud recently revealed that he nipped in and did some negotiating on Wenger’s behalf in the Moussa Sissoko auction (Which was only supposed to be between Everton and Tottenham).
Giroud explained recently that he tried to get Moussa to give Arsenal the priority, though, he added that even if Tottenham took him, Moussa would, none the less, be a great addition to the premier league.
On the other hand, Arsenal fans weren’t happy to hear that Jamie Vardy never once considered leaving Leicester. Rumors about the large offer Arsenal had made to buy out Vardy’s contract sparked a lot of interest from Arsenal fans.
Vardy’s revelation that his heart wasn’t really comfortable with the idea, despite being flattered by the offer, will disappoint a number of Arsenal fans.
+Liverpool Too Late
While commenting on Barcelona’s acquisition of Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Lucas Digne in July, Roberto Fernandez (the technical secretary) revealed that Barcelona had been in contention with Liverpool over the 23-year-old.
While they had already received an offer from Klopp’s side, PSG revealed that Digne jumped at the opportunity to accept the Barcelona offer when it came.
+Ibra’s Decision
Jose Mourinho is primarily responsible for Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s decision to come to Manchester United. Zlatan had been courted by the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal in the past.
And while he rejected these Premier League giants, the lure of Jose was simply too great for Zlatan to ignore, having learned so much from him at Inter.
