Transfer News: Chelsea star Michy Batshuayi wanted by Trabzonspor

According to transfer news from Turkish outlet En Son Haber (h/t football.london), Chelsea have been approached by Trabzonspor over a potential move for forgotten star Michy Batshuayi.

Signed from Olympique Marseille in 2016 for a transfer fee around £35m, Batshuayi has never quite managed to live up to the billing during his time with Chelsea. A solid loan stint with Borussia Dortmund aside, the Belgian international has largely struggled to produce the goods, be it with the Blues or with the teams that he has been on loan at.

Apart from Dortmund Batshuayi has also spent time away on loan at Valencia as well as two separate stints with Crystal Palace. As for his performance for the Blues, the Belgian, to date, has featured 77 times scoring 25 goals and setting up two more.

Back at the club after a sorry spell with Palace in 2020/21, Batshuayi finds himself at a crossroads with regard to his future. Not part of the plans at Chelsea, the 27-year-old could now be offered a way out by Turkish outfit Trabzonspor, as per the aforementioned report.

It is claimed that the Turkish Super Lig outfit have already made contact with Chelsea to assess the possibility of a transfer this summer. However, it must be noted that Batshuayi is being considered only as a backup by the club, in case they fail in their pursuit of Alexander Sorloth. (h/t football.london)

Batshuayi is in the final year of his contract with Chelsea. So, it is of paramount importance that the Blues cash in on the Belgian international this summer or they could run the risk of losing him for nothing in 2022.
