Chelsea handed boost in pursuit of Tottenham star Harry Kane
According to The Athletic (h/t Express), Chelsea may have been handed a boost in the race for Harry Kane as Tottenham would be more open to selling the Englishman to the Blues over Manchester City.
Kane is one of the top targets for Chelsea this summer along with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. However, given the club’s deep-rooted rivalry with Tottenham, a move for the England captain this summer was always deemed unplausible.
However, that may have changed now, as per the aforementioned report. This is because Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would be more receptive to offers from Chelsea rather than Kane’s other major suitors Manchester City, due to the fact that he believes the Blues could offer more affordable players in positions of need as part of any player-plus-cash deal.
The report mentions that Tammy Abraham could be one such player that could be of appeal to Tottenham considering that he would be a direct replacement for Kane. Tottenham are also in the market for a new centre-back, a position that the Blues are well stocked in and could offer Kurt Zouma or Andreas Christensen as part of a potential swap deal.
Kane is one of the best strikers in the game currently. The striker enjoyed one of his best seasons last time out and is in his prime years. His addition, if possible, would take this Chelsea team to the next level.

Daniel Levy’s openness to be willing to trade, if the report is true, is a fresh and positive development for Chelsea. With Dortmund not relenting on their stance on Haaland, this could be an avenue that the Blues explore in the coming weeks.
