Goalkeeper Petr Cech is delighted to be back in the starting line-up against Sunderland, especially as he was expected to miss most of September.
Blues’ number one damaged his knee ligament problems during training after featuring in the opening fixture at Stoke.
After making a much quicker return to action he told the official website: “I am glad to be back and that the knee is okay. I was going into the game 100 per cent prepared and finished it without anything getting worse (about the knee).
“Ahead of it, I was in a few training sessions and the doctors gave me the green light.
“Last season I didn’t miss a single match and, hopefully, I have taken my toll this early in the season and will avoid injuries for the rest of it.”
When Cech is missing from the Chelsea line-up, the defensive line looks very shaky, thus meaning all Blues will be ecstatic to him return to the team.
