Transfer News: Chelsea join the race for Alexander Isak
According to transfer news from Mirror, Chelsea have joined the race for Sweden starlet Alexander Isak. His performances in the Euros have attracted the attention of Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool. He is said to be valued at £60m by Real Sociedad.
The 21-year-old Isak came through the youth ranks at Swedish club AIK. He made 29 first-team appearances before being snapped up by Borussia Dortmund in January 2017. The striker had a difficult time in Germany, as he struggled to break into the senior team at Dortmund.
In January 2019, he was sent on a six-month loan to Willem II, where he impressed, scoring 14 goals in just 18 games. Isak joined Real Sociedad in 2019 and the 21-year-old striker has impressed in his two seasons in Spain.
Chelsea want Isak as Haaland’s alternative
Chelsea have had their issues with strikers over the years. Their seemingly expensive outlays on those frontmen have often not yielded the desired result. Timo Werner is the latest addition to that list after fluffing his lines on a weekly basis at Chelsea.
Due to that, Chelsea are closely keeping an eye on Isak. The Swede has come a long way, developing into one of the best emerging forwards. The youngster proved that he can step it up against the big boys when he managed to bother Spain and Slovakia’s centre-backs in a significant way in the UEFA Euro 2020.
Apparently, Chelsea see him as an alternative to Erling Haaland. Plus, Thomas Tuchel has already worked with him during their time at Borussia Dortmund.

Isak’s age and all-around ability make him a bright prospect for Chelsea to go after. He is slowly starting to make a name for himself and Chelsea would be wise enough to move ahead of their Premier League rivals.
