Transfer News: Olivier Giroud could follow Fikayo Tomori to AC Milan
According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport via Sempre Milan (h/t Football.london), Oliver Giroud has ‘agreed upon’ a two-year deal with Serie A giants, AC Milan.
This news comes as Fikayo Tomori has agreed to join I Rossoneri in a £25million move. The Frenchman only recently signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge earlier this year.
But it seems like the 24-year-old could be off to Serie A as well. The report states that an agreement between Milan and Giroud is done and the Frenchman now has to convince his current employers to let him leave.
That could prove to be tricky considering Tuchel’s admiration of Giroud, which the German manager revealed after his side’s win against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League earlier this year.
Speaking after the Frenchman scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 round-of-16 win against Simeone’s men (h/t The Independent), Tuchel hailed Giroud’s longevity and praised how the striker could fit in different roles in his team.
“He trains like a 20-year-old, like a 24-year-old. He is a guy who has a good mixture of serious and joy in training. He is always positive and it is a big factor for the group. He starts, when he comes from the bench, he has all these qualities and it is good like this.”
It is clear that Tuchel favours Timo Werner as his No.9 but Giroud can still play a big role in the squad next season. He would be vital when Tuchel rotates his squad or wants competition for Werner.

As he showed this season, the former Arsenal man also has a knack for scoring important goals. If the Blues don’t get in a striker in the summer, perhaps they could live to regret Giroud’s sale.
