Patson Daka hints at Chelsea transfer with social media activity

Redbull Salzburg striker Patson Daka has hinted at a potential transfer to Chelsea with his social media activity. Daka retweeted a post on Twitter that claimed Chelsea are set to sign the striker ahead of Liverpool and West Ham. He has since deleted the tweet.

The pursuit of a new centre-forward is very much understandable given the situation of some of our current options in the striker position.

In looking for strikers, Chelsea have stumbled upon Patson Daka of RedBull Salzburg. The Zambian began his journey with Nchanga Rangers in his homeland before joining Kafue Celtic. He then spent half a season on loan with Liefering before joining RB Salzburg in the summer of 2017.

Though he initially struggled in the club’s senior set-up, he was a part of the side which won the league in 2017/18 and the following campaign. Last season, he led the team to the league title with 31 goals and also helped Salzburg lift the Austrian Cup title. He was prolific this season as well, with 34 goals and 12 assists in just 42 games.

Daka has given the biggest hint that a transfer to Chelsea might be on the way. The striker retweeted a post that mentioned Chelsea have swooped Daka from under the noses of Liverpool and West Ham. He may have deleted the retweet since but fans already caught a glimpse of that on his profile.

While all this may not mean much, in this day and age, the social media activity of players is a guide to what they are doing. Even if we don’t read too much into it, it’s safe to assume that the striker prefers a move to Chelsea? Only time will tell.
