Chelsea Transfer News: Leeds United and Aston Villa favourites to sign Conor Gallagher

According to transfer news from Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United and Aston Villa are favourites to sign Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher. The midfielder is all set to return from West Brom after the last game of this season.

Gallagher joined Chelsea’s academy as an 8-year-old and went on to progress through the youth teams, ultimately signing his first professional contract in 2018. Since then, he has gone out on loan to Charlton and Swansea, where he impressed.

Even this season, Gallagher was allowed to leave on loan as newly-promoted West Brom came for him. Despite the doom and gloom surrounding the Baggies, Gallagher has been one of their best players this season. The Englishman has featured in 29 of 37 league games for them, scoring and assisting twice.

As plans are being made for next season, it still looks unlikely that Gallagher can force his way into a Chelsea midfield that has Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho. Leeds and Aston Villa can provide him with a way out even if it’s a loan deal. Both teams will be looking to strengthen in the summer and a quality midfielder like Gallagher would be a welcome addition.

More Chelsea News:

Gallagher is a quality player but there could also be a chance that he might warm the benches on his return. Billy Gilmour has suffered this season as he was not allowed to leave on loan. The on-loan youngster does look a better player but sitting on the benches could stunt his career growth, something Chelsea have to handle very carefully.
