Transfer News: Borussia Dortmund reveal latest Erling Haaland stance amid Chelsea interest
According to Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke (h/t Mirror), the club is trying to keep a hold of Erling Braut Haaland after the latest developments in the Bundesliga as transfer links with Chelsea continue to rage.
After their most recent win against Mainz, Dortmund sealed a top-4 finish which ensures a UEFA Champions League berth next season. Earlier, that did not look likely and Haaland’s future was up in the air.
Recently, a plethora of top clubs are linked with the Norwegian striker’s signature. The reported list includes Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Manchester City.
In fact, Haaland’s agent even travelled around Europe, including Spain, to start potential transfer talks about Haaland. But according to Watzke, the 20-year-old sensation is here to stay.
“I’m sure that [Haaland’s] staying.”
Big blow for the Blues
Dortmund had a rough start to the season. They had to sack manager Lucien Favre after a run of terrible results, and up until recently, their Bundesliga position threatened a mass exodus of players. (h/t Mirror)
But that has all been fixed for them now with them securing a top-4 place in this season’s Bundesliga. Of course, Erling Haaland has gone on to play a big role in that too.
The Norwegian striker bagged a brace in their DFB Pokal final against RB Leipzig to take his season’s tally to 39 goals in all competitions. It is no surprise that the Bundesliga club wants to keep him, but for Chelsea, this comes as a blow.
Thomas Tuchel has seemingly fixed Chelsea’s defensive issues and all that remains is adding goals up front, with Timo Werner not doing a very good job while Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham struggle for starts.

It seemed like Haaland would be the solution but apparently, Chelsea could have to look in another direction if they want to add another number 9 in the squad.
