Napoli not interested in signing Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko on a permanent deal

According to Italian publication Gazzetta Dello Sport (h/t The Mirror), Napoli are not ready to sign Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko on a permanent deal.

The 26-year-old joined Chelsea after an impressive spell at Monaco in 2017. Despite having a number of opportunities, the Frenchman failed to impress and has struggled to assert himself at the Bridge.

He has since been sent out on loan thrice, including Napoli last summer. Bakayoko has made 42 appearances for the Gli Azzuri this season, scoring two goals and assists apiece.

New Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is also not keen on including the midfielder in his future plans. With Napoli also not too keen on taking him on, he is currently at crossroads in his career.

The Serie A side can land Bakayoko for £15m in the summer. However, they look unlikely to make use of the opportunity. Having signed him for an impressive £40m, Chelsea will be forced to take a hit on their investment.

The 26-year-old’s contract at the Bridge runs until 2022. The Blues will do well to find a suitor for him this summer.

A dominant midfielder for Monaco, much was expected of Bakayoko when he joined Chelsea. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, it was not to be. It would now appear that his future lies elsewhere.
