Transfer News: Chelsea target Jadon Sancho wants England return

According to German news publication BILD (h/t Metro), Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is eyeing a return to England amid transfer interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 21-year-old England international has grown into one of the most sought-after young wingers since making the switch to Germany from Manchester City in 2017. Having enjoyed a spectacular last season, Sancho forced his way into the England national team and has become a mainstay for the Three Lions.

Sancho has seen a bit of a dip in form this season, but still has managed to produce an impressive return of 14 goals and 18 assists from just 35 games in all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)

In a recent interview, Sancho did insist that he is happy at Dortmund but it is now being claimed that the 21-year-old wants a return to England, with Chelsea and Manchester United deemed as the only realistic destinations for the speedy winger. (h/t Metro)

Borussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc revealed has also that the club had an agreement with Sancho last summer to allow him to leave under certain ‘conditions’.

Chelsea have a number of attacking options already as it is, with Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Callum Hudson-Odoi all vying for the two spots behind the main striker in Thomas Tuchel’s 3-4-2-1 system.

However, when a generational talent like Sancho could become available, it would be foolhardy not to make an attempt to land him. The England international could be available for a £78m fee as per recent reports and can prove to be worth every penny if he is able to perform at the same level that he has been doing at Dortmund.

The competition from Manchester United could be an obstacle for Tuchel & co., though.
