Report – Agent reveals Neymar was close to joining Chelsea back in 2010

published :

Chelsea are in pole position to sign PSG star forward Neymar Jr.

Revealed: Neymar nearly signed for Chelsea back in 2010

In a rather surprising bit of news from Mirror, Neymar almost joined Chelsea back in 2010. His former agent revealed that the then Santos prodigy was close to a move to the Blues but ultimately joined Barcelona in 2013.

The Brazilian trickster went on to enjoy a fruitful 4 years at the Catalan club forming one-third of the famous MSN trio. Alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, Neymar wreaked havoc in Spain and Europe, winning the treble in 2015.

PSG came after the star in 2017 and little did Barcelona realise that they would stump up the mammoth release clause in his contract. The French side went ahead and paid £199m for him, thereby making him the world’s most expensive player.

However, his former agent, Wagner Ribeiro revealed that it could have all turned out differently for the Brazilian.

“We were in New York before his first international appearance (against the USA). We met the representatives of Chelsea. They wanted him, they offered lots of money but Neymar didn’t want to go there.

It is surely a surprising bit of news that Chelsea was a possible destination for Neymar. However, he is well settled at the French capital now, scoring goals for fun. Nonetheless, it would have been very interesting to see Neymar in the blue of Chelsea and in the Premier League.
